Sally called when she got the word
샐리가 소식을 듣고 전화를 했어
She said 'I suppose you've heard about Alice'
'너 앨리스 얘기 들었어'? 라고 말하더군
Well, I rushed to the window and I looked outside
글쎄, 난 창가로 달려가서 밖을 내다 봤어
And I could hardly believe my eyes
그리고 난 내 눈을 믿을 수가 없었어
A big limousine pulled slowly into Alice's drive
앨리스네 집으로 큰 리무진이 천천히 들어가고 있었지
Oh, I don't know why she's leaving or where she's gonna go
오, 난 그녀가 왜 떠나는지 어디로 가려하는지 모르겠어
I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know
그녀 나름대로 이유가 있겠지만 나는 알고 싶지는 않았어

왜냐하면 난 24년동안 앨리스와 이웃하며 살아왔었기에

Now she walks to the door with her head held high
지금 앨리스는 당당하게 문을 나서고 있어
And just for a moment I caught her eye

She said 'Now Alice is gone but I'm still here
그녀는 '이제 앨리스는 가버렸지만 난 여전히 여기 있어
And you know I've been waiting twenty four years'
그리고 나도 24년간 기다려 왔다는걸 알잖아' 라고  말했지
And the big limousine disappeared
그리고 큰 리무진이 사라졌어
